Course Summary

The Avata Tactical Operators Course is tailored for public safety professionals, equipping them with essential skills for effective drone operation in critical and tactical scenarios. The comprehensive curriculum covers a range of flying skills, from basic to advanced, with a particular emphasis on navigating indoor and confined outdoor spaces. Participants will become adept at handling the DJI Avata’s settings and software, gaining a deep understanding of the drone’s capabilities.

This course will provide students with tips and tricks for flying in GPS-denied environments, preparing public safety personnel to operate drones effectively in challenging situations where GPS signals may be compromised. Additionally, the program addresses indoor low-light scenarios, ensuring participants can confidently and safely pilot the drone in less-than-optimal lighting conditions. The course incorporates various control methods, including the DJI FPV handheld remote controller, DJI RC Motion Controller, FPV goggles, and remote screens, providing a versatile skill set for professionals in public safety operations.

Students will:

  • Acquire proficiency in piloting the DJI Avata drone, ranging from fundamental maneuvers to advanced flying techniques, with a focus on precision and control.
  • Develop the skills necessary to navigate and operate the drone effectively in indoor and confined outdoor environments, ensuring adaptability in critical scenarios.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the DJI Avata’s settings and software, enabling participants to maximize the drone’s capabilities for optimal performance.
  • Learn and apply techniques for flying the drone in GPS-denied environments, preparing public safety professionals to handle situations where GPS signals may be compromised.
  • Acquire the ability to operate the DJI Avata safely and effectively in low-light indoor conditions, emphasizing the importance of maintaining visibility and situational awareness.
  • Familiarize yourself with multiple control methods, including a remote, gesture controller, and FPV goggles, to ensure adaptability and versatility in different operational contexts.
  • Connect theoretical knowledge and practical skills to real-world public safety scenarios, ensuring participants are well-prepared to utilize the DJI Avata drone effectively in their professional roles.

Course Information

Course Length: 2 days (16 hours)
Max Class Size: 15 Students
Equipment: Mixed, Students should bring their assigned Avata equipment. RTC will supplement equipment as needed.

Recommended Prerequisite: RTC 48-hour UAS Operators Course, or  32-hour Basic Pilots Course, or equivalent training.

Beginner to Advanced UAS Operators
